Global Voices Organization (GVO)-South Sudan is a vibrant survivor led, women led humanitarian and development organization established to promote gender equality, survivor empowerment and access to justice. GVO puts survivors at the center of their work in order to understand their lived experiences and address the impacts violence according to their needs and wishes to build their coping skills and resilience. GVO envisions a society where survivors including women and girls are breaking barriers of stigma, exclusion/discrimination, poverty and are influencing decisions that affect them. GVO seeks to co-create safe spaces for collaboration, networking and interchange through connecting survivors’ voices at all levels to engage a larger community. Through its multi-faceted approach, GVO is committed to fostering resilience, promoting gender equality, and improving the lives of vulnerable women and girls.
Our core values guide everything we do: Accountability means being transparent about how decisions are made and using resources efficiently. Women-centeredness involves recognizing the unequal power between women and men, and analyzing issues through a gender lens. Respecting diversity is about acknowledging the variety of women, identities, and lived realities. Collaboration entails working with women-led organizations in an open and inclusive way. Commitment to gender equity focuses on ensuring women have equitable access to resources and decision-making spaces. Innovation reflects our openness to new ideas and embracing change. Finally, integrity is living by the highest standards of personal honesty and behavior.
